Molecular Biology (molecular design, synthesis and formulation)
Cutting edge molecular biological technologies serve as a corner stone for many of the services offered through LifeCyte to deliver quality, reproducible results. To offer such custom services we utilize in silico bioinformatics annotation software for accurate design and delivery of our products.
- Gene Expression Cloning
- LifeCyte scientists have extensive experience in gene amplification [PCR] cloning and expression, and recombinant DNA technologies utilized in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems. We can custom engineer both cloning and expression vectors for a variety of systems and applications, including reporter assays (luciferase promoter activity assays), and conduct assays for site-directed mutagenesis for down-stream application.
- DNA/RNA Isolation and Purification
- We are skilled in the use of multiple techniques for the subcloning, isolation and purification of a given gene of interest, including larger bacterial artificial chromosomes (BACS) and genomic preps. Plasmid preps are delivered at purity qualification for transfection.
- Functional Genomoics
- We can conduct custom gene expression profiling using micro-array technologies and provide the mined results in a format that is interpretable and convenient to access for your project. We also provide additional expression profiling services such as Real-Time PCR, and Northern and Southern analysis.
- Transgenics
- Mouse knock-out technologies have become a powerful genetic tool to explore the function(s) of a gene of interest. Using novel recombineering technologies, we can generate targeting constructs for the use in gene targeting methods. Custom targeting vectors can be generated for both constitutive and conditional knock-out as well as for the generation of transgenic models. We can also extend our services to include the linearization of the vector and electroporation into mouse ES cells, selection and expansion of positive clones, and the procurement and delivery of such clones. Clones are provided non-differentiated and will be karyotyped 100% normal; they can also be provided under serum-free, feeder-free conditions.
- As an extension of the knock-out technology, LifeCyte can also help in the design and delivery of gene knock-down [RNAi] vectors to ascertain gene function.
